F1 Technology for the Street
When you're chasing 2000hp, your pistons are absorbing 8 to 9 tonnes of combustion force, 60 times a second. Standard forged pistons are heavy and noisy. We partnered with the legendary Cosworth UK to engineer a piston that defies the compromise between race strength and street manners.
Forged doesn't have to mean noisy. Most high-strength 2618 alloy pistons rattle loudly when cold due to loose clearances required for thermal expansion. The Atomic Cosworth piston features a unique crown and skirt geometry derived from Barra specific R&D. Cosworth's proprietary Alloy blend goes beyond the tradition 2618 alloy for improved strength to weight ratios.
The Atomic Solution
Forged from a Cosworth proprietary alloy, these pistons are ultra-lightweight to reduce reciprocating mass (allowing higher RPM) yet incredibly strong thanks to an internal "X-Brace" strut design supporting the pin bosses. With Xylan-coated skirts for friction reduction and a fully polished crown to reflect heat, these are the most advanced pistons available for the Ford Barra. The mass of these pistons if focused heavily on the underside of the crown to create a hugely stable structure for the crown to withstand such high pressure.

2. Engineered to Survive
Proven in builds beyond 1500hp, these pistons are built to take punishment.
- 6 Internal Struts: A complex bracing network connects the crown directly to the pin boss, preventing crown collapse under massive boost.
- Xylan Skirt Coating: A specialized low-friction coating reduces wear on the cylinder walls and eliminates skirt collapse during high-load side loading.
- Polished Crown: By polishing the piston top to a mirror finish, we reflect combustion heat back into the chamber, protecting the piston alloy from softening and reducing the chance of detonation hotspots.
