The failure of a fuse/holder is one of the most common failures when it comes to dual battery installations. In simple terms, the fuse and holder can melt causing no charge to go to the auxiliary battery. Most often, this issue is attributed to a blown fuse, but more often it's due to an insufficient fuse holder.

An insufficient fuse holder doesn't always contact the fuse as needed and dirt and dust can get in between the contact points. When this happens, it creates more resistance which results in more heat and this often will do the melting of both fuse and the holder. Another key reason for using a high-quality fuse holder is to ensure you're getting maximum charging and not missing out on any due to heat dissipation.
