This unit enables you to charge a 12V start battery from a solar panel or battery charger on the auxiliary battery.

The REDARC Smart Start® SBI12D is a microprocessor-controlled battery isolator which can be used in most dual battery systems as a solenoid priority system. It will do the job of protecting the start battery from excessive electrical discharge. The SBI12D unit provides 12V DC incorporating 100A of continuous ratings.

Dual Sensing

The dual-sensing model allows the isolation of the start and auxiliary batteries, in an environment where the auxiliary battery can also be charged by a source such as solar or an external AC battery charger. The SBI12D also permits the charging of the start-battery by the external source once the auxiliary battery reaches 13.2 volts. It's a practical way to keep the start battery topped up.

Incorporating electronic components that will prevent the solenoid from generating high voltage transients, The Smart Start SBI12D is much better than a diode battery isolator, as there is a voltage-drop issue with diode type isolation. The Smart Start SBI12D features the latest technology in detecting faults and also LED lights to indicate warning to the user of faults including over-voltage, voltage drop and excessive current draw conditions.
